Portfolio :

For this module, we had to create a portfolio using the work we produced. In this module, I did that. I also created some more assets and spend time making sure, it flowed well. Ill leave a link to a backup of it. It will not show all information i provided and assets but will give you an insight into what i did.

Personal Development Video Transcript :

Hello, my name is Morgan Piercy, and this is my Personal Development Document. I decided to adapt it into a game engine. I’m starting this development document with context covering some of my time at university, as it has helped me develop my research and analytical skills as well as my creative skills. At the core of projects, “ideas are key.”

Going into Year 2, my time at university, the second year, was more influential for me. We started to cover more subject areas in game development for the first time in an educational setting. I was enjoying learning and willing to adapt and learn new skills. From these discussions, I took away many quotes reflecting on my time at university and realized how much I have improved and how far I could go if I keep moving forward. It was an intensive year, and although I did consider leaving for a job, I decided to “not look back and keep moving forward.”

Going into Year 3, Term 1, I decided to push myself for all my projects by creating all the assets, art, and code. This was to learn skills outside of my comfort zone.

As we are approaching the deadline for the last of the assignments, I’m nervous. Regardless of my grade, I’ll continue moving forward and improving. “Being nervous is okay. It shows that you are at least trying.”

As I continue to progress, I will ensure that I create and design things I want. For larger projects, I’ll “give myself goals and deadlines.”

To improve in the future, I need to be aware of my current skill set, starting with the skills I currently possess.

  • 3D Modelling
  •  Knowledge of game engines
  •  Game prototyping
  •  Collaboration and teamwork
  •   Creative

While my learning goals are.

  • Learn more C++
  • Uv Unwrapping
  • Uv texturing
  • Attend More Events
  • Improve 3D Skills

To be able to improve on these skills, I have an action plan. A yearly trip to Yorkshire game fest. Keep learning from online         resources. Practising on personal projects.

  • Apply for jobs.
  • Update portfolio
  • Updating cv

After the final hand in, I will continue to work on personal projects. Create learning resources for others. Make 3D assets. Join game jams. Update website. Learn substance materials. Work in a team project. Create small indie games. Past graduation, my main goal is getting a job. This is so I can improve my portfolio and continue more professional projects and improve my skills before entering the gaming industry. As a contingency plan, I have a variety of routes I want to look at as potential avenues.  Doing a masters, teaching or becoming an indie developer.

No matter the route I take, I’m glad I decided to continue with university. Its taught me a lot. Let’s see where I go and what the future has for me.
